Source: Aeroflot, AirBridgeCargo stop flights over Afghanistan

MOSCOW, Aug 16 (PRIME) -- Russian national air carrier Aeroflot and air company AirBridgeCargo have decided to stop flying over Afghanistan, a source with the air industry told PRIME on Monday.

“Aeroflot and AirBridgeCargo perform flights over Afghanistan. They have decided to stop flying over the country since today’s morning, which is linked with (an air navigation notification), issued by Pakistan at request of Afghanistan,” the source said.

The Taliban, sanctioned as a terrorist organization under the Russian law, seized Kabul without fighting on August 15, forcing President Ashraf Ghani to resign and leave the country.
